Presented is an antique, sterling silver handled cup or mug made by Gorham in 1869. This 19th century, Victorian piece is done in a classic form and has beaded bands of design along the rims. The front of the cup has a monogram that reads: Andrew Hastings Spring Feb 7th 1869 from MC.The underside is marked for Gorham and a product number. Older pieces of Gorham silver are sometimes not marked sterling, such as this cup. During the 1800s Gorham only used their 3 part hallmark(lion, anchor and G) on sterling or coin silver articles. Silver plated wares were only stamped with the anchor.
This piece is in great condition for its age. There is minor surface wear, but no damages and no repairs and only the most insignificant of dings. Weight: 5.2 ounces or 149 grams.
