Antique 1890 ROMANTIC ERA STERLING SILVER HOLDER & DEMITASSE COFFEE CUP & SAUCER
It is very rare to find one of these sterling silver holders from the romantic period (note the cherubs/cupids and the griffin handle) still with its original eggshell demitasse coffee cup/liner and its matching saucer. The sterling silver holder is marked WC, anchor (for Birmingham), x for 1897 and the lion passant to denote sterling silver. The cup/liner and matching saucer has the mark used by Crown Staffordshire c1889 to 1891 and the registration number Rd#179250 and is also marked "Eggshell" for the fineness of the porcelain.
