18th Century French Antique Sterling Silver Wine Cup Timbale Beaker Goblet
Ornately engraved French Antique sterling silver wine cup or "timbale, " 18th century. We find several interesting hallmarks to the cup... Lastly, the maker's mark reads CDB Charles-Denis Bellon? An engraved name along the pedestal of the cup reads Aimeé Picard (loved/cherished Picard). We'd like to note that French silver from this time period is quite rare and highly sought-after due to much of it being melted down during the Revolution and Napoleonic Wars. Condition is very good; there are no major dings or dents to speak of, but it looks like the cup received horizontal pressure at some point and we find two vertical bends to the metal on opposing sides of the cup. These look like light creases to the metal and very hard to notice but we prefer to be thorough with the condition description. The cup is fit for display and ready to serve your favorite wine. Measures 10.3 cms (4 inches) tall and weighs 84 grams. As the items that we sell are often fragile and irreplaceable, great care is taken during packaging to ensure their safe transit and arrival.
